Merry Christmas and Welcome to the launch of my blog! There couldn’t be a more beautiful time of year to bring this to you – The Christmas Season! Such a joyous time of celebrating the birth of something new. It’s also a time of giving, and a time of receiving! I am a giver! And I can’t help but think of you this year as I am planning out my gift giving.
As a token of my appreciation to all the love and support I have received from each and every one of you, I would like to share some holiday cheer, and do a little giveaway. It is because of you and your kind requests, that my blog has been thought about, prayed about and came to conclusion. I am thrilled to have followers both young and old and I love the interaction I have with both. As I was planning out my personalized gift to share with one lucky subscriber, I decided upon a gift that my young following base would enjoy for themselves, but one that ladies of my age would enjoy, as well … whether to give, or split up the products between themselves and other loved ones. Today’s post is the second in a series intended to inspire you as you plan out your holiday party attire. With all the different details, the beauty with this outfit, is the visual appeal it gives to the eye. We have a pretty, feminine non-structured bow, some ruffle details at the cuff, dressed up with rhinestone buttons. Add some faux fur, a chic black mini, and how about some over the knee, suede boots? Talk about sassy! This makes the look very feminine, but throws in a wild card (and possibly some sexiness) with the faux fur and leather textures. It’s the holiday season! It’s party time! This is the perfect time to vamp up your outfits. This one, quite frankly, knocks it out of the park!
Because they each have their own texture and look, combing different fabrics together results in a visually interesting combination. The rule to mixing and matching fabrics is very easy; your goal should be to opt for fabrics that are quite contrasting, but still have some similarities. You need to experiment a little in order to tell where the fine line is between ‘contrasting’ and ‘too different’. In this outfit, I mixed up the textures (faux fur, leather and suede), but kept the color the same. This creates a smooth transition. Of course there is nothing wrong with making a fashion statement and mixing it up with different colors. But I’m going to share what I tell my daughters, ‘If you are on the fence with your comfort-level regarding your outfit choice, go with option number two. Trust your gut! Enjoying yourself at your holiday party is the number one goal, not thinking about what ‘others’ impression of your outfit is. If you choose to go with it, then you should really affirm it!!’
I love the added little details to this outfit! A red lip, black nails and a pale gold clutch. Fun and flirty! It’s important to stick with sheer hose in an outfit like this. The key being to break up the solid black between the skirt and boots. An opaque black tight would not transition and create the same effect . Not comfortable wearing a skirt (especially mini) or OTK boots? There are always alternatives. This outfit would be beautiful paired with black slacks, black skinnies, or my fave, faux leather pants. What’s most important is choosing what you feel comfortable in, flatters your body, and fits your holiday party invite.
