Healthy Snacks for On-The- Go

Although I always encourage eating whole foods that come from their natural state, we all know that at times … convenient, on-the-go snacks are required to sustain us in a pinch or perhaps prevent us from resorting to a fast-food drive-thru. In a perfect world, we would all be snacking on celery sticks, but who is doing that??? 

I am sharing a handful of snacks that I resource currently or have over the years to tie me over when I don’t have a meal handy or I am traveling and need something for on the road. Hey, it’s better than the alternative!!!

On the Keto craze? Many of these snacks are Keto-friendly. I personally have always looked for high-protein/low-carb snacks that are 5g of sugar or less. That’s the golden rule with me and what I encourage the same with my clients. In a nutshell, if it comes in a wrapper, make sure it is 5g of sugar or less. Occasionally you can eat a packaged item that is 9g or less, but consider that a treat.

Disclaimer: Some of these products contain Whey. I personally have no digestive issues consuming Whey. If you do, there are options provided that do not contain Whey.

Trying to shed a few (or a lot) of pounds? Be careful, as many of these ‘on-the-go’ snacks are high in calories. Also, some of these snacks may be more than 1 serving (each). Sneaky-Sneaky!!! If you are trying to lose, I wouldn’t have more than one of these snacks, daily. Better yet, ONLY consume them in a pinch. Good wholesome natural food is your segway to weight loss -Lean proteins, moderate healthy fats, fibrous or crucifous carbohydrates that are GREEN (think leafy salad greens, broccoli, asparagus, celery) Packaged or convenient food (in any form … a.k.a Fast (fat) Food) is your enemy! 

THIS would make a great care package or to take to the summer Beach House! 

LOVE Tree Nut packets for on-the-go. Be careful of the ones that have raisins and cranberries included. There is no place for those if weight loss is your objective. Stick with the ones that are nuts, only.

You’ve all heard of Lenny & Larry Cookies. I have tried them all! My favorite is SNICKERDOODLE.Warm it up in the microwave for 8 seconds and it tastes like it is fresh out of the oven! Heavenly! Be careful, though – this cookie is 2 servings. If you eat the whole thing, consider it a meal!!!
