Anti-Aging P.M. Skincare Routine and GIveaway

Anti-Aging P.M. Skincare Routine

Before we dive into my Anti-Aging P.M. Skincare Routine, You will want to go back to my A.M. Skincare Routine to better understand my skin type, and my goals. You will also see that I incorporate some of the same products into my nighttime beauty routine as I do my morning one. Included in my A.M. Skincare routine post is a section on Anti-Aging from the inside-out … don’t miss it!

Anti-Aging P.M. Skincare

Step 1: Eye Makeup Removal At home  Almay Liquid using Cotton Pads | On-the-go + travel Almay Pads

I do not wear waterproof mascara, but I do wear several coats of mascara. I have found that eye-makeup removers for waterproof mascara work best for me. I am not super picky on which brand. This is an area that I may buy one brand one time, and a different one the next. The one I have purchased the last couple times is the Almay Longwear & Waterproof formula. It does the job. I love the Pads for on-the-go and travel.

I was recently introduced to Egyptian Magic, from a follower on Snapchat. She said it is amazing on eye make-up removal. WOW … game changer!! I will continue to purchase this product and wish I could go back and pull the Almay out on this post. Although, the Almay is good, especially for an everyday natural make-up application. This Egyptian Magic is incredible!!!

Anti-Aging P.M. Skincare Routine

Step 2: Face Makeup Removal  Olay Cleansing Cloths

I go a couple of days per week wearing no makeup. I aim for two, and once in awhile I get lucky enough to get a third day make-up free. I only use the Olay Cleansing Cloths for Combo/Oily on the days that I wear make-up. I have used these for years, and love them. They do a great job of removing all your makeup. Much better than the cleansing towlettes that come in the little package and are like a wet wipe. Although those are great for on-the-go and travel, for at home, I prefer the cloths. These little cloths have the cleanser built into them through a textured side, but the cloth is dry. Once you get the cleansing cloth wet under hot running water, it will develop a nice lather and build up more as you are washing your face. These are great for travel, as well. You just pack one for each night that you will be gone.

Anti-Aging P.M. Skincare Routine

For the past several months, I have been using the Garnier Cleansing Water on a Cotton Round. I do this only to get any last traces of makeup removed. I feel it is important to remove all your makeup PRIOR to the actual cleansing. This may sound confusing, but the two steps (makeup removal & cleansing) are separate.

Anti-Aging P.M. Skincare Routine

Step 3: Cleanse CeraVe | Philosophy | Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser

Now, we are ready to cleanse the skin. I like mixing up my products for this step. I have no good reason why, except that I like product and mixing it up makes me happy! Using my Clarisonic, I alternate between the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser, Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash and the exquisite, but pricey Tata Harper Skincare Regenerating Cleanser (or at Sephora). I picked up the Tata Harper during the Sephora VIB Sale, this past fall, after hearing all the rave on youtube. I know – sucker!!! I have to admit, I was hoping that I didn’t care for it. Unfortunately, for my pocketbook, that didn’t end up being the case. I will indeed repurchase this again this year during the sale. It helps that I am rotating this cleanser with less expensive ones, so it will last the entire year. I suppose that is how I justify the expense of this pricey gem. Who’s with me, ladies?

The Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash can be purchased in three sizes: 16 oz.  8 oz. & 4 oz. You will see this product also being used in my a.m. skincare routine.

Step 4: Tone:

LOVE this product. I have many years under my belt using the Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner.

Anti-Aging P.M. Skincare Routine

Step 5: Derma-Roll  Rodan + Fields … GIVEAWAY {Details Below}

This AMP MD Roller was gifted to me several years back by a client. I have used it ever since, without fail. I cannot say that I use it every single night. It’s a nice intention, but there are some evenings that I just don’t have the time to put in, when it comes to my Anti-aging P.M. Skincare Routine. I almost feel guilty, crazy as they may seem … if I neglect this stepThe roller is designed to help firm the skin, and make lines and wrinkles less noticeable. When I first started to use this roller, I had noticeable results immediately. There are 200 micro needles that help stimulate the production of collagen and elastin properties. It’s like rolling away wrinkles! Active ingredients will penetrate deeper with the use of this roller and double the effect of these products. It offers a brightening and tightening effect. This is an investment piece, and worth every cent!!! I am thrilled that one of you lucky ladies will be receiving this!

Anti-Aging P.M. Skincare Routine

Step 6: Active Ingredients Retinoid alternating nightly with Glycolic Acid

Using active ingredients in your Anti-Aging skincare routine (both a.m. & p.m.) deserves a whole blog post to itself. That will come in the future. I am a firm believer in using active ingredients such as Retinoids & Glycolic Acids (evening), and Vitamin C (mornings). It is important to ease your way in with these products. I am at a full-strength regime, but that didn’t come overnight. It can take weeks or months to build up to the strength that works for you. Some more sensitive skin-types may never get to the strength that I am. But that is ok, the important thing, is if you are looking for an aggressive approach to slowing down the aging process, active ingredients are where it lies. I alternate between my Tazorac (prescription, only) and my Derma ET Fusion Glycol Acid 19% Night Treatment (not prescription, but high doses such as this are only sold through a dermatologist or medi-spas). In the past, I have used Retin-A, Retin-A Micro, and Differin (all prescription). I suggest you make an appointment with your dermatologist, and find the retnoid that is best for you. Pray to God your insurance will pick up some of the expense, as these products are in the $$$ range.

Anti-Aging P.M. Skincare Routine

Step 7: Eye Treatment  Algenist Gel | Algenist Balm

You will see from my Anti-Aging A.M. Skincare Routine that I like using Vitamin C products. This includes my eye treatment, as well. However, I do not use Vitamin C products in the P.M.. Therefore, I use a different eye treatment in the evening. I happened upon the Algenist Firming & Lifting Eye Gel by receiving a sample. I also was given a sample of the Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm to try. I loved both of the products and would recommend both. They include Alguronic Acid, which is great for anti-aging. Here’s the deal though, with me … I don’t know why, but when it comes to my eye treatment products, I prefer the packaging to be a pump or tube where you squirt out the product vs. jar-type packaging, where you are required to dip your finger in. This is not because of sanitary reasons, or anything of that nature. I feel that it is just easier to use. I also don’t have to worry about half the product getting under my fingernail when I’m dipping my finger in. Weird, I know! Admittedly, this is my ONLY reason for choosing the Eye Gel over the Eye Balm. Both products are wonderful!!!

Anti-Aging P.M. Skincare Routine

Step 8: Moisturize + Self-Tan Vichy LiftActiv Night | Vichy Liftactiv Serum | Vichy Idealia Serum

I talked about the Vichy LiftActiv Night in my Anti-Aging A.M. Skincare Routine as well. Although I don’t use this product on my face in the morning (neck, only); during the evening is different. I use this moisturizer alternating with one of the two Vichy Serums: Vichy Liftactiv Serum 10 Supreme and Vichy Idealia Life Serum. With my skin being as oily as it is, I feel that using the moisturizer every single night is too much. Both the Vichy serums provide moisture, but it is more lightweight than the moisturizer. During the winter months, or if I have been doing too much exfoliating, I may use the moisturizer a couple nights in a row. My oiliness can be finicky, so it really depends. I pretty much make the decision of what product I am going to use on a nightly basis .. depending on the oiliness level. I think it’s quite obvious that I have a real love for the Vichy line.

As for the self-tanning…the Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster has been in my nightly regime for two years strong. One bottle lasts me about a year. I mix about 3 drops of this in with whichever moisturizing product I am using for the night. This is my self-tanner for the face. I LOVE it! I will continue to use this as long as Clarins continues to make it. I will be heartbroken if it ever gets discontinued. It is the only face self-tanner that I have found that does not react on my face, alongside the active ingredients (retnoid + Glycolic Acid). I don’t use it every single night, and definitely I use it more spring-to-summertime. But it does get plenty of love throughout the week.

That, my friends, is my Anti-Aging P.M. Skincare Routine. I hope this blog post provided you with some great tips and product recommendations. As you know, I ONLY stick with the performers. Don’t forget that diet, exercise and healthy environmental choices will make the biggest difference in your skin. Do not neglect those areas!

I also do plenty of masks, peels and exfoliants on a regular basis. I usually do those on a night when I have extra time or on a day that I will not be wearing makeup. I will eventually do a blog post on favorites in my rotation.

Also, I get asked often what products I would recommend if someone was just starting their library of anti-aging products. Whether or not it’s your a.m. or p.m. skincare products that you are purchasing, always start with the ‘powerhouse’ products first. Put your dollar where the most difference can be made. This would be your active ingredients first … for that good exfoliation, then your serums and eye treatments. Save your money on your cleansers. They are not on your skin long enough to make a difference. I think both the Clarisonic and the Rodan + Fields AMP MD Roller would be great investments, as well, and will last you many years. Can’t afford the sticker shock right now? Christmas is right around the corner. Put one or BOTH on your list.

Please, if you haven’t already … don’t forget to subscribe to my blog in the box provided or on Bloglovin’! Happy cleansing … the anti-aging way!!!

Good Morning Tracy! My most loved skin care product Skin longevity by bareMinerals. My face tends to be very picky with serums and moisturizers but this one has been nothing short of fabulous. Smoother skin, minimized fine lines, more even skin tone. Add a few drops of Clarine Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster (thank you for the suggestion) and my skin has never looked so good. At 47 these are the things that make me ecstatic! Love your Snap and blog…thank you for being you and on so real!

Great Tips and products thank you! I have been doing derma rolling for the past few months with 1.5 mm roller (different brand), but heard the recommendation is every two weeks to allow collegian to produce and allow the skin to heal, I feel I am seeing some results. What are your thoughts on the time frame?

I love good skin care!! One of my cheap drugstore favorites to remove eye makeup is just plain old baby oil!! I’ve heard mixed reviews whether this is good for your eyes or not but I’ve done it for years and no issues and it works!! My favorite product would have to be my obagi retinol but paired with the nuderm blender (hydroquinone) never too early to start a good retinol in my opinion. Thanks for the giveaway and informative blog post;)

Hi Tracy! Love your tips! I am a busy woman and my favorite skin care product is the Olay makeup remover cloths. In my busy day I do find the time to at least remove my makeup before bed. I use the cleansing cloth by Olay. Its quick and I love how clean my face feels. I have really dry skin so I let it dry and put on a moisturizer before bed.

Tracy you did it again, another fabulous post! I don’t know how you do it but you are the master! Now I have a list of products to purchase. I want to try the Vichy line and definitely need to get back to the dermatologist for a retinoid. I used to use Obagi but stopped when I noticed how red my skin always looked and I heard it wasn’t good to use long term. I use Cerave cleanser and the Philosophy Exfoliating wash but honestly the best thing I do is shave my face every day. It’s the best exfoliant!

I’ve been using their products since I was a teenager and I would switch to other brands off and on over the years but I always go back to Lancome. My most recent favs from their collection are the Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate Serum and the Renergie Lift Multi-Action Night Cream. Very expensive but it lasts a long time.

Last month at Costco I bought the 2 pack of ROC Retinol Correction Deep Wrinkle night cream and loved it! The first couple of times my skin was flaky but then now it feels so smooth and healthy. I went back and got the one for day time and love that too! I have oily skin and the products have not seemed to make my face any oiler.

Also I have started using the foundation that Tracy recommended – Rimmel Stay Matte Wow!! It’s great and I think better than the Estée Lauder foundation I was using and less expensive.

Hi there Tracy, I am a new follower…and I have already shared your blog w/other girlfriends! It’s hard to find a good website for the almost 50 crowd…well, you are not almost 50, but I am! ha,ha! I see you doing things that I should have done in my early 40’s and now am kicking myself for it…skincare is the biggest one. The two things I am using and absolutely love is the GrandeLash-md serum for eyelash growth and the Grande Mascara! My lashes are long and healthy from using these products. The only downfall is that the mascara doesn’t last as long (2 months), but gosh, when it is fresh….it’s amazing and I don’t need an eyelash curler. Something I would love for you to touch on is cellulite! I try to stay in shape and actually love to exercise, but my inner thighs….you would never know that I workout if you only look at my legs. They say you can’t just workout one part of your body, but my upper body looks toned…my legs don’t match the rest of my body if that makes any sense! Glad I found your blog and I have to say, that I love your sweet heart….I can see the Lord thru you…what a gift you have!

I have not tried glycol products so that may be an option for me. I do struggle with acne on my neck…. a new peri-menopausal treat! Hello Tracy, I’m definitely need to add more to my routines. Do you have any good suggestions for sunscreen before applying make up? I know there is some sunscreen in make-up but I want to add more. Any suggestions would help;) Thank you!!

Hi Tracy! Thank you for all your snaps. I learn so much and routinely make your veggies with coconut oil.
My morning routine: I use CeraVe cleanser for oily skin, CeraVe a.m. moisturizer, or Sheiseido sunscreen if I’m going to be in the sun a lot or swim. I want to start using a vitamin C serum, but haven’t started yet.
Evening routine: I use Philosophy purity cleanser, and I rotate evening moisturizers. I usually use CeraVe p.m.

Hi Tracy. I know you are a fan of Aldi. Have you tried their Lacura Caviar Skincare? It’s very popular in the UK and has excellent reviews. The mask is just lovely. Love your blog and Instagram and especially your Snapchat.

Hi Tracy, I enjoyed this blog post. I’d like to add to my night time routine, so this was helpful. Currently after I’ve cleansed I use my retin-a cream and DML moisturizer, which I love!

    Hi Tracy,
I regret not starting a cleansing routine when I was much younger. You young ladies start now if you already haven’t. I use Jose Maran products and my clarisonic daily. I just wish my skin would stop sliding off my face.

I wish I had the energy to do anything even remotely close to a routine. I barley ever wear makeup and hardly ever do anything for my face😢

    Hi Tracy!

What a fabulous giveaway! As I’ve mentions before, I’m a Vichy girl and I love their products. I also love and daily use the Clarins booster as I’m look too pale without it. When I don’t use it, people ask if I’m sick. So much for the natural look! Lol
My problem area is my neck/chest area. I use sunscreen but it’s looking wrinkly. I’m wondering if I can “roll” it away. 😉
Thank you again for this opportunity and I hope I win. Happy Sunday! Gracie

I plan on trying out some of your products you suggested Tracy! 🙂 I am a new follower and am loving your posts and look forward to your snap stories everyday 🙂

Thank you for bringing us this giveaway! Love your blog, snaps and IG. My (lifetime) skin care product is Purpose bar soap as my facial cleanser. My grandmas dermatologist recommended it to her a long time ago and it’s the only one i’ve ever used! Not only is it super cheap, but it works great, great for sensitive skin and I never break out. (Even during my teenage years.) #1 drug store find for me for cleansers!
