This Romper is gorgeous! From the floral print to the little ties at the sides, this cold-shoulder romper knocks it out of the park. Very eye-catching! Add in a juicy red lip and BAM! Plan on getting noticed in this vibrant baby. My theory – If you’re going there, go with confidence!

The hubby and I are supposed to go out to a ‘Roof-top Bar’, tonight. I say that, and it is predicted to rain, so the odds are looking slim. We don’t have a lot of roof-top bars in Michigan. Most are in the Detroit area. With the beautiful evening weather we have been having, it is the perfect setting for Rompin’ Around in Red on a roof-top.

This Romper is perfect for a setting like this. It would also be a great, easy-breezy look for a patio bar or any outdoor entertainment .. as you are not dealing with a brutally cold air-conditioned environment. That is such a pet-peeve of mine!! I also think this is a knockout vacation outfit. If you don’t have anything planned for the rest of the summer, but you are a ‘spring-break’, traveler. Planning ahead is always a good idea. This cold-shoulder romper is a MUST!!!

The cut and drape of the sides of this romper is very sexy. Yes, it is ok to use the word and be sexy in your 40’s. Much better at this age, than in your teens. As long as you are keeping it appropriate and classy, go for it … you fit-sexy, Mama’s. However, in order to pull this off and be comfortable doing it … aka, not exposing any ta-ta’s, girl’s grapefruits, or whatever you want to call them .. you are going to have to pull out some fashion extras. Don’t worry, you have options. Have no fear, you most certainly CAN wear your Red Carpet Strapless Bra in Pecan. Whoop-whoop! The pecan color should go best for most skin tones, unless you are extremely pale. Then I recommend you go with the Beige colored one. If you do choose to wear your Red Carpet Bra, you will want to put a nude or white Tube Top or Bandeau overtop of the bra. More options, here, here, and here. Bear in mind, it will be seen! Luckily for this outfit, that currently is an appropriate look, and actually quite a tasteful and classy one. Some smaller busted women will be able to get by with just the tube top or bandeau, and no strapless bra underneath. If you like more support, stap-on, baby! Whether or not you wear your strapless under your tube top, you will not have to worry about nipples popping through with how this romper lies in the front. However, there are Nipple Covers out there to aid in this problem, if it is a concern. The covers come in both silicone (better coverage for cold nipples … just say’in) or fabric ones. You can purchase inexpensive ones at Target, Walmart and many other places. This should be a staple item in every woman’s (and teens) wardrobe, as well. The other necessity that I needed was my handy-dandy Hollywood Tape. I don’t like having to worry about bending over with looser tops and showing my undergarments. I tape, often. I have mentioned many times, how I do not want to think about the outfit that I am wearing and any malfunctions that could possibly take place. I want to focus on the people I am with, and enjoying my time. No worries – is key! Hollywood Tape has been a huge wardrobe asset, not only for me .. but my daughters, as well. I ALWAYS keep an extra one in my car. And that has proved to be a good choice. If you have teenage daughters, put a tin of this in their stocking this Christmas. When they open it, tell them to leave it in their car at all times. Trust a mother of 5 girls .. I know what I am talking about!

I had many questions on Instagram and Snapchat about this red lip. I wish I could say that I created this red lip with just a swipe of a beautiful lipstick. Unfortunately, it is not that simple. I really think a good red lip justifies having a blog post all to itself. There is a lot that goes into nailing a red lip. From, prep to the finishing touches .. it’s quite a cocktail of products, techniques and attitude. Yes, it takes attitude to wear a bold, statement, red lip. If it didn’t require attitude, and possibly a little confidence (or A LOT!) everyone would be wearing it.

I am not going to ruin that future blog post on rocking a red lip, here. I added it to my ‘future blog post’ journal along with all the other future blog posts I am itching to do. I will however, share the products and order that i used to achieve this red lip. Again, I have to reiterate … it’s a cocktail, with an added bit of high-maintenance.

Red Lip Cocktail

A Red Lip should make your teeth look whiter. But, I ALWAYS do a Teeth Whitening routine on days that I am rocking the Red Pout! For products & tips, check out this blog post, here

Lip Scrub: Albeit LOVE, LOVE, LOVE … this is a MUST!!!

          • Lip Balm: Nivea Milk & Honey It is imperative that you moisturize, but then blot tissue between your lips after, prior to applying your lipstick.
          • Using the Real Techniques Retractable Lip Brush, I applied Make Up Forever Rouge Artist Intense in Moulin Rouge. I worked on the shape of my lips, and filled in the entire lip with this blue-red shade. This is NOT a matte lipstick. It also is not very moisturizing.
          • Using a Mac Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Trust in Red, I outlined the lips. I also went over that liner with NYX Retractable Lip Liner in #11 Red … like I said, High Maintenance!!! I like the color of the NYX Lip pencil better, but it is a retractable lip pencil, and I like the precision that I get from the MAC Pencil. So I use that one first.
          • Going back to the Real Techniques Retractable Lip Brush, I then go over the entire lip with this ultra moisturizing lipstick by Clinique in the color Angel Red Angel Red. This is a beautiful rich red that any skin tone can wear. If you are uncomfortable wearing a vibrant matte red lip, this is your lipstick. It is subtle, moisturizing and very wearable. A very conservative red. I will always have this shade in my lipstick library. Yes, I have a ‘Lipstick Library’!!! You don’t?
          • To finish off the red lip and ensure long-lasting staying power, I topped off the final cocktail with a long wearing cream stain by Sephora in the color 01 Always Red. This will not budge, and that is VERY important when wearing a sassy statement lip! However, I have found with experience that you need to have a red, moisturizing lipstick worked into the lip underneath this formula or any of the matte lipsticks and stains. How cute is this Lip Stain Set?
          • To clean up any mistakes around the edges, or to touch up after eating, I keep a concealer and brush in my lipstick case. This is a MUST! The concealer that I use is the bareMinerals Correcting Concealer in Medium, with the retractable lip brush by Japonesque.

I often get asked what Camera and lens we take our photos with. The camera we use, is the Canon 6D,  and the lens is the Canon L-Series 50mm. This is a ‘fixed’ lens. The lens will blur out the background to the photos. No edit work is needed to achieve this. This is why we chose this lens, and it is PERFECT! If you are looking for a lens for faraway, beautiful shots to use at sporting events or vacations, you would love the Canon L-Series 24-105mm. It is currently on our bucket list! We have a trip coming up to New York City and this lens would be perfect. It is important when investing in a camera lens, that you take into consideration what the purpose of your photos are for. My husband carries our camera in this awesome sporty backpack by Evecase.
