Lemon-Ginger Morning Detox with Turmeric & Cayenne

Lemon-Ginger Detox Drink

I have been making this Lemon-Ginger Morning Detox Drink for years. When we hear the word ‘Detox’, we think health. By no means can I give this drink all the credit to good health. We all know that tip-top shape comes from our environmental choices (eat right and exercise). And you’re certainly at an advantage if you’ve pulled from a good gene pool.

But since this post is about this Lemon-Ginger Morning Detox Drink, lets look at the rundown of all the benefits of drinking this vitamin-packed, anti-inflammatory beverage of health. Lemons are an excellent source of Vitamin C. They contain flavonoid compounds that have antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. Ginger is a potent anti-inflammatory that offers protection against colorectal cancer, it possibly induces cell death in ovarian cancers, and gives a boost to your immune system. As for Turmeric, it’s in the ginger family and is a great anti-inflammatory, as well. It offers cardioprotection, lowers bad cholesterol, and protects against Alzheimer’s Disease, and it may help prevent certain types of cancer. Studies have shown that it inhibits cancer cell growth and metastasis (meaning it keeps cancer from spreading). Drinking water with added Cayenne provides a healthy boost, as well. Cayenne is high in nutrients. Like lemons, it’s rich in flavonoids and contributes to proper hydration. Cayenne provides Vitamin A, which you need for a healthy immune system and sharp vision. It contains Vitamins C, D and E. Again, it’s no substitute for a healthy diet, but the Capsaicin in Cayenne could help aid in weight loss … let me emphasize ‘aid’. It increases energy expenditure, and perks up your metabolism a little bit, which can help in fat burning and reduced appetite. Who wouldn’t drink to that?

Definitely going to have to give this a try! Also, just wanted to pop over to your blog and say “Hello!”! I started following on snapchat about a month ago and want to show support in your new venture. I have no doubt that your blog is going to be amazing!!

The blog looks awesome! How often are you going to post content?

Welcome Lisa! I am glad you are here, and on Snapchat! ! have been drinking this Detox for so many years, I cannot even remember when I started. I do run out of lemons once in awhile and miss a day hear and there. But it truly is just repetition of drinking it first thing upon awaking. I am a creature of habit. There’s good and bad to that… sometimes it’s a curse!!! I appreciate the feedback about the blog. It’s still somewhat under construction (mainly mobile + ipad). hopefully next week, all loose ends will be tied up. .After the new year, my goal is to start with 2-3 posts per week. And hopefully they will publish the same days + times consistently each week. If I take on Youtube, I may tweak that schedule…but would definitely feel all of you out first … and get some feedback, prior to any commitments Thanks again for your support! xo

      Hello,
This is my first time drinking this cleanse. I wanted to ask about the spicyness of it, I have acid reflux and I wanted to know if the ginger and Cheyenne pepper will be okay to use it this? Or if it will upset my stomach? Thank you

    Hello Tracy!

I love this idea and would like to add it to my daily routine. As far as details go, would you mind sharing the brands of spices used? There are so many options and I know not all are equal in quality.

    Totally loving your blog!

Thank you Elizabeth! I am glad you are enjoying my blog. This would be great for you to add to your morning routine. It takes time to get used to something new in our daily regime. But after awhile, having this Lemon Ginger Detox will become second nature. You should see some improvements in your skin within a couple weeks. As for spice recommendations, I always purchase a certified Organic version. Look for the USDA Organic label. I generally order from Vitacost. Good Luck!

Hi Tracy! Avid follow on Snap Chat and here 🙂 Quick question – I recently got back from a trip to AZ where my grandfather has a lemon tree (with TONS of lemons that needed to be picked and used). I came home with a bag full of lemons, that of course I can’t use up fast enough. What I ended up doing was juicing the lemons (as you do for your detox drink and over your fish) and putting the juice into ice cube trays to freeze. Do you think doing this will alter the minerals, vitamins, and/or health benefits of the lemon juice at all? Just curious for your thoughts – it was the only way I could think of not to let them go to waste 🙂

Hi Kellie! Glad you are enjoying my snaps! How nice to have access to a lemon tree. I have heard those that have them are blessed abundantly with nice, juicy lemons. I would be in heaven. But I can see where they have so many, what do you do with all of them. As for your question, I really am not sure. I would think not but you may have to give that question to google. What a great idea though, to freeze them in ice cube trays. Just adding the cubes to water would be delicious! I hope you find the answer you’re looking for and thank you for thinking of me first with your question. I wish I could be of more help. Enjoy your day! xx

Hello Tracy. My sister gave me your site to try this drink as I have arthritis in my joints . Can 100% lemon juice from a bottle be used ? Also is the ginger only a one time use ? When you say cayenne all I think of is the pepper. What other cayenne is there ?

    at
    • Reply tracyhensel

Hi Laurie! Welcome! I try to stick to REAl Lemons. I believe to get all the health benefits, that would be the best choice. I’m sorry that I am uncertain what you mean with the ginger. You add ginger to your morning detox drink. And yes, Cayenne. You should have no problem finding organic Cayenne in the spice section of your local grocery store. I hope incorporating this into your daily regime is beneficial.

    HI Tracy,
I have drank hot lemon water (6 ounces of water juice of 1 fresh lemon) first thing in the mornings for years! I was wondering is there a particular reason you use meyer lemons over regular lemons. I also don’t care for ginger – any othe options? I can’t wati to try your version of detox water.

Mica, that is fantastic that you are providing your body with such a great start to your morning! Feel free to use whatever lemons you would like. Not worth being picky over. If you don’t like ginger, skip it. Easy as that!!

Hello, can this be made as a larger batch and put in fridge, then heated cup by cup in the morning? Thank you

    at
    • Reply tracyhensel

Hi Patricia! I am not sure, as I have never done it. My suggestion would be to try a batch. Maybe not real large, as you don’t want anything to go to waste. But that would really be the only way to test it. Sorry that I cannot be of more help.

I just asked a question but it don’t see it under the topic I was inquiring about, the Lenon-Ginger Detox Tea. I asked, “Can this be made as a larger batch and put in fridge, then heated cup by cup in the morning?”
    Thank you

Hi Tracey, I tried this method for the first time today, and I am having a very hard time sipping it. Haha. I’m pretty sure I made it very strong, and it doesn’t taste good at all. Any tips to improve the taste, or make it easier to drink?

I often visit your site and have noticed that you don’t update it often. More frequent
updates will give your blog higher rank & authority in google.

Any way to make this I’m advance? I have a strict morning routine with an hour workout and I need to be at work by 7am. I’d love to incorporate this but I do as much prep as I can at night. Thanks for all your great info!!!
